Bob was diagnosed with cancer in January 2022. Therefore, he took sometime away from NBC4 to fully focus on his health and fight the cancer boldly. His colleagues Matt Barnes and Monica Day had an interview with him in June 2022 to follow up on his health updates. Furthermore, during the chat he disclosed that when he first started chemotherapy his hair stayed, although, some of it was turning a little more gray. However, when he just thought he was not going to lose his hair, it all fell out.
