Joe was born in Glendale, Arizona, United States as the fourth-generation Arizonan. Joe was the son of Joseph Kent Dana who worked as a news anchor of the evening news in the Valley for 30 years. Kent died at the age of 80 on April 19, 2022, after he suffered complications from a January hip surgery. Kent’s second wife is Janet Archibald Dana and his first wife (Joe’s mother) is Carol Ann Huber. Joe was named after his grandfather who was also a journalist.
