Sam initially joined WABC in 2002 where she spent a year serving as a weekend morning sports anchor and reporter until 2003. She later worked as a full-time sideline reporter for ESPN. 

During her time at ABC Sports and ESPN, Sam reported on various national sporting events such as the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Home Run Derby, the NHL on ABC, and many others. Sam proceeded to work at CBS Sports as a contributor for the network’s coverage of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship and The NFL on CBS.
