Reed Cowan( Reed Abplanalp-Cowan) is an American Edward R. Murrow, Emmy and GLAAD award-winning journalist at KSNV News 3, Las Vegas. He is currently a news anchor at 3, 6, and 7 and reports for News 3 at 5 and 11. for KSNV-TV in Las Vegas, Nevada. Cowan has covered some of the major stories including, covering the Elizabeth Smart case to being the first television anchor on the air in Salt Lake City, as well as anchoring real-time coverage of the terror attacks of 9-11 and National coverage of the funeral for President Ronald Reagan.

He began his career journalism working for KNEU Radio as a radio disc-jockey in Roosevelt, Utah. As a student at University, he worked as a part-time on-air reporter for FOX’s KSTU in Salt Lake City, Utah from 1995 to 1996. After KSTU, he joined WWTV in Cadillac, Michigan, and worked as an anchor for one year. In 1997, Cowan secured a full-time position as an anchor for KBAK-TV in Bakersfield, California.
He joined KSL-TV in 1999 and worked as a reporter and weekend morning anchor. he later left KSL in Salat Lake in 2000and moved to KTVX also in Salt Lake. During his time there, Cowan anchored Good Morning Utah. In addition, he covered the death of former President Ronald Reagan, the kidnapping of Elizabeth Smart, the terrorist attacks of 9-11, the fugitive stories of polygamist sect leader Warren Jeffs as well as the murder of Lori Hacking. Through this work, he was nominated and won Emmy awards for reporting.

This was after he accused the organization of destructing his character marketability as a journalist, public speaker, filmmaker, and author.
