Prior to that, he served as a sports anchor and reporter at New England Sports Network (NESN) since 1988. While at NESN, Steve hosted the pre and post-game shows for the Boston Red Sox.

During his free time, Steve spends much of his time serving at the Ron Burton Training Village.
