Liz Cheney (Full name: Elizabeth Lynne Cheney) is an American politician and attorney. Currently, she is working at the University of Virginia Center for Politics as the professor of Practice. She served as the U.S. Representative for Wyoming’s at-large congressional district from 2017 to 2023. Cheney was also the House Republican Conference Chair, the position is the third-highest in the House Republican leadership from 2019 to 2021. She is the third woman to hold that position after Deborah Pryce and Cathy McMorris Rodgers.

Cheney held several positions in the U.S. State Department during the George W. Bush administration. She was Coordinator for Broader Middle East and North Africa Initiatives and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs. Cheney co-founded a nonprofit organization concerned with national security issues known as Keep America Safe.
