Sade Baderinwa (Full name: Folasade Olayinka Baderinwa) is an American broadcast journalist. She has been a news anchor at WABC-TV, the ABC station in New York since 2003. Currently, Sade co-anchors the weekday 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts of Eyewitness News with Bill Ritter.

She came to the Eyewitness News team in 2003 and worked as a reporter and anchor of Eyewitness News at Noon. Sade came to Channel 7 from Baltimore’s WBAL-TV, where she covered the morning and noon newscasts. Moreover, she hosted a weekly community affairs show. Sade is a huge believer in giving back to her community.

She has served with numerous Tri-State area organizations, community leaders, and students. After being struck by a hit and run driver while covering a story for Eyewitness News, Sade championed efforts to deal with the growing problem of the accidents. Sade was born to a Nigerian father and a German mother in Baltimore, Maryland. At age seven, her parents ended their marriage and her father returned to Africa. Sade’s mother also left her leaving her in the custody of a family friend. Subsequently, she was adopted in Baltimore by WBAL-TV anchor Edie House, whose parents also provided additional support.

At the age of 12, Sade’s birth mother took her in to live with her family in nearby Montgomery County. Since she has continued to maintain contact with her biological father as well as with her adoptive family. Sade holds an American nationality and German-Nigerian ethnicity.

She attended the University of Maryland, College Park’s College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. There Sade received a degree in agricultural business and resource economics.

While working for ABC, Sade was also a victim of hit and run accident in July 2004. Following the accident, she went through months of frustrating and painful rehab. However, she knows she was lucky to survive. Sade got the accident while covering a flood in Hackensack, New Jersey. She was standing in a street barricaded by police, when a car came out of nowhere and struck her. Sade was thrown 10 feet into the air and knocked unconscious for 20 minutes. Fortunately, she survived even though she sustained a broken arm and one of her knees had to be replaced.

Sade does regular workout to stay in shape. Her workout regimen is doing Pilates twice a week and lifting weights three times a week. Furthermore, she has a trainer Paul who helps her workout.

While working for ABC 7, Sade provided coverage for two infant twins(a girl and a boy) aged 7 months who were found dead in a car In July 2019. This was after the father of the twins went to work and forgot the babies inside the car when he parked. Furthermore, the father is one who discovered the twins at 4 pm.
